Hi hoping somebody could help me do the maths please.

My son was already on Middle rate care DLA.

Renewal form received 15th july.

I had a decision made for his renewal on the 11th of September.

On the 16th of september I recieved £292 exactly in my bank.

I have not yet had the decision letter and they WILL NOT tell me over the phone no matter who I speak to 😭🤣

Can anyone help me figure that payment out please? If it helps I received my last regular DLA payment last Tuesday the 9th of september then this random payment exactly a week later

There are a couple of possibilities. £292 is 8 weeks of the difference between HRC and MRC. (£110.40 - £73.90) x 8 = £292. £292 is also 10 weeks of LRM (or LRC but that wouldn’t apply if you already have MRC).

Okay fab thank you so much. So after double checking the form was received 10th july. Decision made 11th September. Payment of £292 16th September. Any chance you'd know whether that would class as 8 or 10 weeks? X

From the 10th July to 11th September would be 8 weeks pay. However, while DWP don’t always backdate to before they receive the renewal forms, they sometimes do, so it doesn’t guarantee it is HRC.

Thank you so much you've been so helpful ☺️ one last thing. He is only 4 years old. It says on Google under 5s cant get low rate. Is that correct do you know?

In that case, the £292 will be the difference between HRC and MRC.

That is right. HRM can be awarded from 3y/o and LRM from 5y/o.

Depending on how near to 5y/o DS is, they might have awarded LRM at renewal to begin once 5. They sometimes do that if the child is approaching 5 soon.
