Looking for some advice, my son is 6, diagnosed with ASD and ADHD, unfortunately we heard another child swearing in school, and now uses these words to either try and get a reaction, he ignore in the hope he will get bored.
He will also shout swear words during a meltdown, which isn’t great when around other children, or in a busy place. During a meltdown he will lose full control, swearing, shouting, hitting, kicking biting, mainly only physical to me and his dad.
Any tips to get him to release his frustrations in another way?
We remain calm, remove him from the situation, and take him to a quiet place to calm down. He is always very upset and sorry for lashing out once he has calmed down.

Have you tried keeping a detailed diary to spot triggers? It is easier, although not easy, to try to prevent escalation than de-escalate once DC have reached the point of no return.

Ignore others judging.

What support is DS receiving?

Some people find the books The Explosive Child and the Out of Sync Child helpful. Others find PDA strategies or non-violent resistance resources useful.
