Hello just wondering if anyone gets high rate mobility for their child. My son is 12 and just waiting on a mandatory reconsideration. Thanks

In order or be awarded HRM for ASD under SMI or VUW you need to evidence every element of the criteria. You can see the flowchart in this document. You might find this page and this leaflet from Contact helpful too.

Weve got HRM for my asd son on an indefinite award. For HRM under smi/vuw you need tonnes and I mean tonnes of evidence from all different professionals that state all of the things in the flow chart. They are extremely nit picky and will deny on the stupidest things. Good luck 🤞🏻

It is about quality of evidence rather than quantity. It is sometimes possible to meet every step of the flowcharts without tonnes of evidence.

Sorry what i meant was evidence from across multiple different professionals that all state the same things really. It wouldn't be accepted if it was just what the parent says. Tbh not really sure why I said tonnes as I only had probably about 6 different documents at the time

The parent’s word won’t be enough, but sometimes it is possible to prove every step of the flowcharts without evidence from multiple professionals. It depends on the quality of the evidence.

If anyone has ever been denied on the grounds of SMI or VUW have they noted it in the statement of reasons? During my sons renewal we sent in evidence to document SMI but in the decision there was no mention of SMI whatsoever, this led me to think that they hadn't even looked at the additional evidence

It isn’t always, no. Sometimes even if the case has been looked at thoroughly, the statement of reasons is vague.
