Hi, I guess I'm looking for some advice or experiences of those who have 2 children and the first found it difficult to adjust. We currently have 2 children, one aged 3.5 one aged 2 months.

For context 3.5 year old is undiagnosed and we find it difficult to obtain nhs diagnosis as each assessment only flags up delays in speech communication and social which they say are all related. No other huge red flags, doesn't stim, fine with changes to routine, fine in loud and busy places and no sensory issues etc...

When we first had DC2, DC1 was completely unphased for the first month but it's suddenly like something has switched and he now cannot be around them at all without a huge meltdown, sometimes lasting over an hour. Every time the baby makes the smallest of noises even a sneeze it creates a frenzy in my toddler where he headbangs hard surfaces or us as parents. He gets very overwhelmed shouting random words and head banging which is so difficult to watch.

We've tried all the usual stuff such as distractions, background noise and he is getting more attention than ever before so definitely isn't being pushed aside.

Do things get better? I spoke to HV who says this is normal, even though he's covered in head bruises. Nursery don't seem too concerned either and said he will soon adjust. This has been going on 3 weeks now and I feel like the end is never going to be in site.

Will he eventually get used to the baby or will we be struggling for months?
