Safe holidays for ADHD kid? HELP!

Hi all,

My five-year-old has ADHD with hyperactivity and impulse control issues. He is a sensory seeker and constantly needs movement. He's always running, spinning, climbing. He jumps from high places, regardless of danger, and seeks rough physical contact by crashing into things. He cannot keep still. We can't eat out because he is unable to wait between ordering and getting food. He can't queue for anything either, and becomes distressed and has a meltdown.
He always wants to be outside, and sometimes tries to escape. It's like a switch has been flicked, and he just runs. In car parks, he tries to get away, and we can't go into supermarkets because he sprints off down the aisles, hides under the shelves, grabs things and generally goes mad until we have to leave.

Anyway, this is all ticking along medically and at school, but what I'd like to know is where the hell to go on holiday! I have no idea where to start. We've been to a specific caravan park in the UK for the last five years, and I'm a bit scared to go anywhere else. I'd love to go abroad, and then he and his sister can experience different cultures etc. I don't want him to miss out just because he has additional needs. But every time I look at resorts, I have a nightmare. Balconies, open pools and anywhere that isn't fenced in make me feel the fear! Every picture I look at, I find something he'll make dangerous. Does anyone have anywhere that's worked for them with a similar child? Any tips for the type of place I should look at? I feel totally stuck and haven't got the confidence to go for it without a recommendation. Thank you all, I would truly appreciate any advice at all x

Ours are quite as hard to cope with but we’ve had years holidaying in the sane place when they were smaller. They’re just able to cope with going abroad as late teens Flowers

Medicated while on flight works well too!
