On a roll now after the buggy enlightenment. I remember someone telling me, years ago, that if L was still not toilet trained at a certain age we could get help with paying for nappies.

Is this true and can you tell me more?

It varies from place to place but after a certain age you can get free nappies. In some areas they provide them at 4yrs. In other places it's when the child is 5yrs. The age limit used to be 3 but I think they changed that because there are a lot of non-SN children still in nappies at 3.

believe it is 3 1/2 yrs old and the HV does this in our case the HV that is assigned through the hospital

He he he,,,we all seem to be like women on a mission don't we!! I was thinking about who to chase up for this today as I lugged 3 large packs of nappies around Tescos.
Saying that, my little darling has been completely dry today, and has 6 stars on her chart for each time she has used the toilet or potty!! Has she sussed it?Well she's getting there slowley but surely, that's all that matters.

Yes. I think the hv sorts it all out and then you get them delivered regulary.

we didnt know about the nappies until my girls were 4 we got fixies which were brill, some areas will only give them for a child that needs them day and night, i think they allow 5 per day, some areas do pull ups too and training pants and disposable bed sheets.

Yep TC, I'm about to get them for my DD, just turned 4. The HV said you get pull-ups.

depends on the local health aurthority in your area. mieows dd gets nappies, and i know my neighbours get bed pads etc. All delivered free of charge. but mieows delivery didnt show up the other day grrrrrrrrr.

and misdee my delivery has gone awol as well and I am mad as I had to bloody fight to get the first flaming delivery

mieow used to have no probs when a nice elderly gent delivered them for her, but ow the comp have a contract with a delivery firm (cant remember which one) and her delivery is now always late.

Thanks Fio! DD's back at mainstream today, with no extra support so I don't suppose she will be coming home with a dry nappy today!! All my hard work just thrown out the window!

Dingle they wouldnt give my dd support in mainstream (here in kent) even though it stipulated it in her staement, they were just idle to sort it out

misdee this is a contract. i used to pick them up myself at one time and tbh that was easier than not knowing when the hell they are going to turn up!

Oh Dingle, so sorry, don't give up fighting though.

The HV is coming round next week to see L and fill out the forms with me to get these nappies.

yep we have had problems with our deliverly for nine months running, the nappies are delivered every three months, and I have had nappies not turning up, when I phoned the company on the day of deliverly, they said they would be delivered before 7pm, never showed, I phoned the following day, to be told they would be delivered by 12noon, didn't show, had to wait till monday to sort it out, another time the nappies weren't delivered, and Dh went and picked them up from the depot. then on friday was expecting a deliverly and they didn't show, had to wait till monday, when I phoned Tena and complained about my deliverlies, and they sent two packs out on next day deliverly, and all my other nappies turned up too. On the second occasion, the deliverly company said the nappies weren't due to be delivered till the following week, when Dh picked them up they were dated 17th and had NEXT DAY DELIVERLY all over them!!! gggrrrr

My HV tod me that it is 4yrs of age but if I got a letter off Ellies Consultant she would fill in the forms for me and we could get them before 4.

Just have to get around to getting the letter!!!

It varies a lot by the sounds of it.
My HV gave me the number for a company called Continence (!) and they told me that my HV had to fill out forms etc. So HV is coming over next week and she confirmed that as Lottie has turned 3 we can get them.

Yes!! we got told that when the forms had been filled in and sent, Ellie would then be assessed by the incontinence people!!!

Made me laugh, not really a lot to assess!!! She is 3 and 4 months and in nappies, what more can there be?!!!

We've had them since ds was 4. We got a choice of nappies or pull-ups but you couldn't have a mixture of both. We chose nappies because it is easier to change them without taking off shoes, trousers etc but will probably switch when ds is showing signs of being ready for toilet training.

The only problem we've had is finding room to store 3 month's worth of nappies!
