I’d like to ask for your opinion. We had a meeting with the school, and the conclusion was that there is enough evidence to apply for an EHCP. The primary school will initiate the application soon.

However, there’s a chance that my child might not be able to attend school for a year or more. During this period, how can we make the most of our time? I don’t want him to stay at home every day, becoming isolated and wasting time.

Why might DC not be able to attend school for a year or more? Because the answer to that is going to influence how you can make the most of your time.

Unless the school is going to request the EHCNA ASAP, you should make the request yourself. On their website, IPSEA has a model letter you can use.

I agree you should make the application yourself. All too often schools faff about and waste time.

Are you thinking of home educating?
