Hi all I sent my daughters DLA forms off in January they received it on the 6th February on the form tho it’s said if sent before the cut off date it would start from the day I rang for the forms is this correct and how long is the wait now I’m waiting to become my daughters career but can’t unless she’s getting DLA

Hi, I had a letter to say that they are taking 15 weeks atm.

If DLA is awarded and you returned to form by the date given, the claim will be backdated to the day you call. Most case are taking around 24/25 weeks ish. Some a bit quicker. A few a bit longer. The letters need updating.

I have a similar time frame on my child's application, it was received in Jan 2025. I called to check the progress, I was told due to huge volume of applications my child's had not been looked into yet but had been received 10 weeks ago and to expect to wait 25 weeks. (They will contact me if they require anything else, otherwise just wait)
Nerve-Wracking process wisting but hopefully the outcome is a positive one. Good luck 🤞🏼

I really hope it’s quicker then 25 weeks but I don’t have any hope if there’s a back log

Yes they’ll backdate it to the date of the form as long as it arrived on time.
