We are just starting the process of getting my son diagnosed with ADHD.
He has emotional issues and therefore we have to be extrememly careful about when and what we tell him or he worries terribly and due to not fully being able to articulate his feelings he ends up in a state.
We're going through the right to choose process and the school assured us that he would not be expected to attend the initial gp appointment - turns out they were wrong and we had just over a days notice of his requirement to attend.
We discussed some high level stuff but hoped the appointment would go over his head and would just be checking we'd sent all the forms
Didn't expect to be verbally discussing his violent outbursts, theft and other negative traits in detail in front of him when it was all written on the forms :(
He's now been left thinking hes a bad kid and due to this ADHD thing he may have he's got no hope of being good.
We've tried reassurance and explaination but its not really working
He really seemed to respond to the 'NCMH lets talk about ADHD'
Does anyone who has been through similar with a similar aged child know of any other resources that will be useful. Ideally youtube type things he can watch or read rather than info for me to tell him.
