DLA WAITING TIMES THREAD 64

Please feel free to add your scan date and whether it's a new claim/mandatory reconsideration/change of circumstances or renewal.
New claims (NC) - people are being told the wait time has increased to 25 weeks! I would say most are done before this though around the 20 week mark?
Mandatory reconsideration (MC) and Change of circumstances (COC) is around 20-25 weeks.
Renewals tend to be between 15-20 weeks.
If you disagree with the outcome of an MR you can appeal and go to court (tribunal)
Scan date is the date DLA scan your application forms on to their system, if you downloaded your application forms then this will be from when your award will be backdated from. If you called up for forms then the date on those is the date yours will be backdated from.
If successful and claiming universal credit (UC) please update them as this will entitle you to disabled child element adding extra to your award.

Nc sd 23/11/24. 14 year old daughter is waiting for asd assessment, have no letters from school only letter from chams and letter saying she's on waiting list for assessment, school does not know anything about this, will this affect if she gets an award?

Inpatientlywaitingstill · 07/02/2025 20:36

NC . SD 4/9

Received a letter 21/1. ( two weeks ago) asking for additional information. Requesting it be sent back to them within 1 month. Additional information sent recorded delivery same day .
Letter was also sent to school.
Still no news. Assuming they are giving school the full month to respond.
Not feeling very positive right now😔.

Received assessment appointment date though from neurodevelopmental services today, after 2.5 years. 🤞🏽

Good luck to everyone waiting , 🤞🏽 our children get what they deserve .

Long time lurker....

SD 26/09 - just checked my bank & there's a pending payment for £1935.65

Is that MRC & LRM?

So relieved. Was convinced it would be a decline as I didn't feel as though I'd put enough of the forms to get my point across on his care needs.

Good luck to all still waiting.

I recieved mine between 3-5 working days. Depends on your bank. But definitely this week. UC is taking so much longer this time around nearly 2 weeks no progress in “verification” whatever than means lol

Ive had to make a complaint 3 times for 3 different reasons, all them being slow though. If you’ve wrote on your journal they should respond in 2-5 days. So I recommend making sure you’re writing regularly on the journal to chase so you can use the excuse that they’re not getting back to you. Anything more than 4 weeks waiting for the funds since you made the change is sufficient time, every time mine was sorted in 24 hours. Good luck!

Make a complaint about JSA or UC - DWP

@Frankadoodle Ahh that'd great, now you have some evidence from a professional it will support your claim massively and they can't decline on the basis of no professional input... Good luck and fingers crossed.

Got a whole night ahead, daughter 9 has a cough, she is petrified of coughing and doesn't know how to properly? She has extreme sensory/dexterity issues (on top of everything else) she has been crying and hasn't eaten properly all day frightened of her 'throat/stomach/breathing'. I've been trying to help but I don't know what else to do! I'm so scared she'll end up very sick if she can't even cough a bit. She cries if there's a noise that upsets her - like the dog chewing his ball - she said it ' goes through her spine. It's the same if anyone breathes near her etc etc.
This is the tip of her issues. It's so sad.
Sorry I'm just venting to mums who get it. I'm feeling just helpless for her.

Riiiiiight · 08/02/2025 20:41

For context I have 1 other asd child to look after and 3 NT - who come with their own issues but that's kids. I'm a single mum and I have no external help.
Just fed up and worrying today, sorry 😞

PositivityRipples · 08/02/2025 21:15

@Riiiiiight Aww Sorry to hear you and your child are going through that and have had a really difficult day.. Sending prayers and positive vibes that your child is feeling better very soon and the cough clears up, incase nobody has told you today you're doing an amazing job and I'm really proud of you, you're strong enough to get through it for you and your child and you've got this 🤍💥💫🫶

Thank you so much! ❤️
Such lovely words and I'm so grateful you took the time to reply. Your reply means im not alone in this..
I feel so silly that I spoke out but at the same time relieved? There's no other ND families I know and I don't have any family.
Just exhausted today, normally ok but some days are a lot.
Feeling stronger now the day is coming to an end, tomorrow is a new day 🌟

You're not alone lovely , being a parent is the hardest job in the world . Especially when they have additional needs . I hope your daughter is feeling better soon. Take a moment to breathe and make yourself a nice cup of tea or make sure you grab 5 mins for yourself . It's not selfish ! Xx
