DLA WAITING TIMES THREAD 64

Please feel free to add your scan date and whether it's a new claim/mandatory reconsideration/change of circumstances or renewal.
New claims (NC) - people are being told the wait time has increased to 25 weeks! I would say most are done before this though around the 20 week mark?
Mandatory reconsideration (MC) and Change of circumstances (COC) is around 20-25 weeks.
Renewals tend to be between 15-20 weeks.
If you disagree with the outcome of an MR you can appeal and go to court (tribunal)
Scan date is the date DLA scan your application forms on to their system, if you downloaded your application forms then this will be from when your award will be backdated from. If you called up for forms then the date on those is the date yours will be backdated from.
If successful and claiming universal credit (UC) please update them as this will entitle you to disabled child element adding extra to your award.

NC SD 21/10
Feeling anxious already, this would mean the world for my daughter 9.
She hasn't got a diagnosis and has been on the camhs list for 2 years awaiting asd assessment.
Assessment process has now started but it's early days.
I just feel with no diagnosis there's no hope.
She needs help getting dressed and to bathe and brush teeth, emotional support, severe food avoidance, sound and taste and texture sensory problems, extreme anxiety. Wont sleep without me so she sleeps with me and we're both in bed by 8pm.
I feel so sorry for her.
Senco have filled in their part too.

Has anyone been awarded whilst on the camhs waiting list? And not diagnosed with anything yet? Thanks

My Son was awarded on 31st Jan,I rang up on the following Monday to ask a question and they said he had been awarded already and told me the details over the phone.
My Son still has no diagnosis as still waiting almost 2 years on CAMHS list for ADHD test.We also have to supervise him getting dressed, calm him down enough to go to sleep, keep him safe etc.
So The only evidence was from school SENCO,his teacher from the previous year as his new teacher didn't know him well enough and letter from CAMHS to say he was accepted on the waiting list.
Good luck, hope you get a positive outcome very soon.x

Hi I first applied for my son when he was 3 at the time he only had supportive letter from nursery speech and language therapy. He was also on the autism pathway just like your son and he was awarded hrc. It took around 20 weeks for them to process his claim during that time he had his received his autism diagnosis he also had his appointment with the paediatrician so i requested a late mandatory consideration for hrm months after his award and they accepted it.

KA0697 · 07/02/2025 15:37

I rang early this week and was told it was assigned to a decision maker and was in their holding queue. What does this mean and how long does it generally take after this? Thank you

Riiiiiight · 07/02/2025 16:03

@CountingDownToBedtime
Thank you for your reply, this gives me some hope! It's wonderful you got a positive outcome so you can support your son better, hoping I get good news too soon 🙏

Frankadoodle · 07/02/2025 16:06

@UmElise I'm glad you got a result in the end even if it was a long wait for you

Nice1nix · 07/02/2025 16:54

MR scan date 16/09 still in holding que
fully prepared to take to tribunal after the absolute diabolical reasons given for declining in the first place. This whole process is extremely stressful. For context my son has ASD and severe behavioural issues and sleep issues and requires a lot of care and support across all areas, all noted and reported by the paediatrician and school (which was supplied with the original claim). It’s like they didn’t even read it. Just want to know the outcome of the MR so we can get on with life and getting him the support he needs and deserves.

@UmElise im so surprised you only got 2027 under smi, don't get me wrong huge congrats for that, but usually smi children do not improve and they award longer. I would say your award length is incorrect. However, if you're happy, ignore me! X

really??? I didn’t know that. My son’s 4? I haven’t received a letter yet? I was told this afternoon when I called them. Should the award be longer and if so how much longer ?

his award got backdated from December 2023 until today when the decision was made and they awarded it until December 2027?
