How does your child behave post meltdown?

DS (6) is on the waiting list for an autism assessment.

He will have meltdowns but they could also be tantrums - it's difficult to tell as he's getting older. He used to completely lose control, not he does still communicate as in he will shout words but can't really listen to what I'm saying.

But afterwards he becomes very compliant and babyish, talking in a baby voice for a good while afterwards. Is this something typical after an autistic meltdown?

With you describe is quite typical for some DC.

My DC shut down following a meltdown.

My DC all become compliant too. I think it is a primitive instinctive fawn response so they are not rejected from the 'tribe'.
