Educational psychologist availability

Hi all,

There seems to be a serious shortage of educational psychologists in Berkshire (and neighbouring counties).

Has anybody (ideally in the South East, but willing to consider further afield) recently managed to find one who has availability for an EHCP report?

It depends how soon your hearing is. You could try: Jemma Levy, Ruth Birnbaum, Vivienne Clifford, Stephanie Satariano, Melanie Hartgill, Nicky Weisfeld. But anyone good with SENDIST experience will have a long wait unless you get lucky with a cancellation.

If, however, you mean the LA is delaying the EHCNA process because they say they don’t have capacity, you should send IPSEA’s model letter if they are over the timescales. If that doesn’t work, you need a pre-action letter.

Hi I’m in the south east and 13 weeks into my DD’s EHCNA, the LA requested a educational psychologist report when they agreed to assess, they did however say there was a 6 week delay and that I needed to contact the educational psychologist myself, which I did and they said the LA had already requested it, the report wasn’t done in time for when everyone else evidence was supposed to be back but they give them extra time for it to be back in time for the LA to make the decision to issue a draft or not, our educational psychologist report was done by a LA educational psychologist who just does reports for ehcp. She did FaceTime meetings with me and preschool to gather evidence for her report. On the letter stating they are going to assess there should be a contact details for the educational psychologist I would email them to confirm if the LA has been in contact to ask them for a report
