Tablet for dyslexia child - what do I need?

I want to buy a tablet for my 9yo to assist him in his learning and to develop life skills.

I think apple would probably be the best for assistive tech but we are a non apple family so we won't get the benefits from it, so likely to get a Samsung

I think it needs to be quite large, I assume they all have fonts you can enlarge and possibly will have other benefits like colour or text to speech reader.

I also want some apps for him - perhaps games, but also reading, maths etc. he would like to be able to write /type on it - as he can't really write.

I will want him to have checklists and reminders on there to help him get ready for things - like swimming lessons etc.

Any help with any of this gratefully received

Thanks
Polly

I don’t have a suggestion of a Samsung tablet but also consider things like a keyboard and pencil/stylus.

For assistive tech and help with maths and English, look at TextHelp read and write, Dragon, Kaz neurodiverse typing tutor, Wordshark and Numbershark.

Thank you! I have just found a great keyboard with lower case and coloured vowels. I'm now wondering if you can plug it into a tablet though...

Some keyboards for tablets are wireless.
