After a long 19 and a bit weeks, I woke up to a £1935 payment from DLA. I’ve been very tearful today, absolute relief for my boy, this will make such a difference to his quality of life. I haven’t had any letter or text yet but was wondering if anyone could help with what the rates could be? Am I right in thinking he has been awarded MRC and LRM? Thank you for any information/help

£1935.65 is 19 weeks at MRC/LRM plus the £10 Christmas bonus.

domt Forget to update universal credit on the disability element of £156 a month and the carers allowance of £198 they will backdate it that to 19 weeks as well that’s potentially another £1416 but could be a different amount depending on assessment periods. Make sure you notify them.

Thank you so much, now I’m confident of the rates I’ll go on and update my claim and ask for them to back date the elements to the date DLA received the application. There’s so much to get my head around but such a relief after a long wait. Thank you again, I appreciate all the helpful advice I’m given!

Hi all!
my son (4 years old) was awarded MRC back dated to March 2024 and was accepted July 2024. I was sent the mobility forms to complete in September as I’m aware he has to be 5 I think? I sent them off 3rd September and they’ve received them, they said I’ll hear back around January. But my question is will they back date from his 5th bday (28/12) or from when they sent me the forms? Thank you!

BrightYellowTrain · 19/12/2024 16:44

If DS is eligible for low rate mobility, it will be backdated to his 5th birthday. It cannot be paid before 5. If DS is eligible for high rate mobility, it will be backdated to the date of the forms.
