How to add DLA to UC

We’ve recently been granted DLA and I now need to add this to my UC claim. I’d rather not call and I’m unsure how to add it online. I’ve tried in the ‘report a change’ section but I don’t know which option to select after that. I’ve also tried adding it to my journal, but selecting the ‘change’ option just takes me straight to the ‘report a change’ section. I know calling would be easier but I don’t get a second at work and I work long hours (out of the house from 7-7).

I did try ‘report a change’ then selected the ‘children’ section, but again wasn’t sure what date to put here as it was granted on the 30.10 but was backdated to May.

Thank you in advance for any help. All of my internet searches just say to report the change, which is not helpful at all!

I would ask in the journal how they would like you to report it and expect a response saying they’d sorted it. I find they are exceptionally kind and helpful, but it’s possible that isn’t a universal experience.

I put the date they backdated it to and I’m currently waiting for the decision maker to do back pay to the date it was awarded from.

You do it via report a change and put the date the award began (i.e. the date backdated to, not the date a decision was made). Then also write on your journal requesting it is backdated to cover all bases. Don’t forget the carer’s element either if that is relevant to you.

it’s the same with the journal. There are so many options to select, but none that fit!

It’s report a change, children who live with you, click on the child’s name and I think there’s options there to state what benefits they receive after you put the date in the change occurred so that would be the date you were awarded your dla
