Now DS is 3 I want to apply for the mobility element of DLA plus his needs have changed. His forms haven't come. I guess they wont until his official renewal when he is 5. Who do I phone to request a renewal form?

I phoned the DLA helpline and requested a new form. The lady told me that unless Ds was physically unable to walk then he couldn't claim the mobility element until he was 5. Im sure that isn't true so I said I would like one sent anyway as his care needs have changed. Its not right is it?

I really thought we got it from aged 3.

no i dont think its right.
dd has got mobility from the age of 3,she has hemiplegia.
they told me i couldnt claim until she was 5 and i told them that i wanted the forms sending out anyway.

stary, my dd gets higher rate mobility element of DLA and she isn't completely unable to walk. She can manage short distances, but she does have additional problems with her heart which may make a difference to how they looked at the claim.

She was awarded this rate when she was 4, but only after I appealed. Like jenk, they'd previously told me that she couldn't get any help until dd was at least 5.
