c&jsmummy, that's great news! We got ours a couple of weeks ago, at least now I can afford the hospital carpark on our many visits! The letter they sent was dated 8 April, the arrears they owed us was paid in on 11 April then we will get the money paid every 4 weeks, so not a long wait at all. By the time we got the letter the money was in, but maybe it depends when in the month the letter is sent iykwim.

Davros · 24/04/2008 17:49

Well done. Of course, you will prob get the letter on Saturday..... it the Rule of Davros. It should be dated from when you apply, not from when the decision is made.

caitlinnjacksmummy · 24/04/2008 21:25

congrats - hope it helps you! Yes, you get it backdated from the date you applied.

Arabica · 25/04/2008 22:01

I'm glad they made a decision so quickly, you certainly deserve that cash! We're in the process of applying, my portage worker has the form to fill in one of the sections. From what you've posted, I think you should be on the higher rate.

bigcar · 28/04/2008 18:34

And don't forget to let the tax credit people know, we're eligible for a higher rate from them too.

caitlinnjacksmummy · 28/04/2008 20:01

Thanku everyone....wats that bout tax credits? Wat do I do? I get £73 from tax credits at the moment....xx

just ring them and let them know oyu now recieve DLA and the date you get it from i think its about £10 a week extra. You can also get carers allowance BUT you have to declare all of that as a wage.

caitlinnjacksmummy · 28/04/2008 22:02

Ring and ask the tax credit people, for us it works out a fair bit more than £10 a week. It probably depends on what you get from them in the first place and then what rate of DLA you get.

caitlinnjacksmummy · 29/04/2008 21:06

Hey, I get high rate, but not called tax credits yet xx
