Hi everyone. I’m in the process of applying for dla for my son. They’re asking if I get income support does universal credit count as that and also they’re asking if anyone else in my household gets income support and for their national insurance number. What will they be doing with this information and why do they need details of family members who claim income support. Thanks in advance.

I have no idea but you can just phone and ask them if no one else knows

Universal credit is not income support. Two completely separate benefits. They ask about income support because you (or others in the household dependent on their relationship) can get extra IS if DLA is awarded.

You can also get extra UC (or tax credits for those still on that) if DLA is awarded but the form doesn’t ask about this. If DLA is awarded, you should inform UC yourself.

Thanks for the replies. When I search up it says that universal credit has replaced income support which is why I was confused as to whether to tick yes or no for it.
