He will be 3 years old and also a year since I was lurking on SN wandering if he had ASD or not so its kind of my MN birthday as well (present gratefully accepted).

I cant believe how much he has changed in one year (mushy moment). Also frustrated that the year has not brought my Ds any language- although he did say "apple" yesterday (to his apple).

Anyway, thank you everyone for all the great advice and discussions (another mushy moment). I love MNSN and I hope you are all here for many years to come.

Happy Birthday little Stary!

Happy Birthday Stargazer - 3 is very young for speech in an ASD child, there is still a lot of time for him to develop. My DS was completely non verbal til 3.6 - he is not fully verbal now but yesterday said 'I don't know' when we asked him to identify a picture of a bike. So we have a sentence now !

I agree with Cyberseraphim - DS2 didn't start to use words in a functional way until he was nearly 4.

We had a lovely day today it really was good. First Ds had his card shown on Cbeebies (unfortunately I couldn't get the recorder to work). Ds watched intensely and afterwards became quite excited which was really good because we are not sure that he recognises himself. Then we went to Willows Farm and he bounced on the trampolines which he loves. We went into the soft play which he had so much fun in which is so good because the last few times we have tried he has become obsessed with the ball pool balls and just picked them up and thrown them on repeat for the whole time. He tried everything went every way on the play thing really trying everything and giving it all a go. He was laughing so much. He gave so much eye contact. Such a lovely day.
