Hello, looking for some advice really. My 16m old DD has met all of her milestones early she had about 30 words, eating with a spoon/fork etc, but I am concerned about some of her behaviours that are red flags.

  • she does this thing with her face that's like a grimace and puts her head back & it looks like she can't control it. She does it when excited/hungry/tired etc. she's been doing it since about 10m I have had her tested for seizures etc and they came back clear and they told me to wait it out.
  • she runs around and opens and closed her hands. She also always moves her feet even when sitting
  • she runs up and down in the same spot constantly
  • she's become a lot less responsive to her name & stares out of the window and into space a lot. She used to be really responsive
  • she won't be cuddled at all and whenever I try to snuggle her she wriggles away and has always done this
  • she get so overwhelmed with the smallest things. For example she screams when I'm getting her milk in the morning and then when I give it to her she throws it and won't even look at it
  • I feel like she used to be a lot happier & now she just seems a bit distant
  • I feel like she's stopped saying a lot of the words that she's learnt

Would love some advice if possible. I am planning on bringing it up with the HV when I see them next as I know she's a bit young atm

Definitely speak to the HV &/or GP if you are concerned. Although some of what you say can be typical of some toddlers. If you are concerned, you could look at the M-CHAT and Ages and Stages questionnaires.
