need your advice please! ATM we are in a 3 bedroom house with a downstairs bedroom and toliet/shower room. We are struggling with DS getting him and downstairs as he won't sleep downsairs as he is scared, plus if he has a bad night then I can't hear him. He has got worse over the past year and is slowly losing mobility I have been thinking about asking for a tranfer to a 3/4 bedroom bungalow, but there aren't any in the council stock so would have to be HA. I have phoned 3 HAs and they all said I would have been referred through the council. ATM DD1 is ok getting up and down but we don't know how she is going to be in a few years. Have just spoken to social services and the OT said that he should sleep downstairs, and I said what about DD1? Also the council said I would only be entitled to one lot of medical points, even though I have two disabled kids (work that one out??) Is it worth all the hassle or should I just carry on as we are?

I know but try telling that to the SS OT she seems to think that the downstairs room make it easier, its doesn't, and I never asked for it in the first place, I asked for a toliet/shower room and she said about putting a room there too.

i think some of these so called professionals that pop in and out of our ch/ns lives for half an hour here and there and then make there reccomendations really need to listen more to the parents and spend more time watching them struggle

Fight it if you can. It's unreasonable to expect a child with mobility problems to sleep alone on a separate floor, especially if you can't hear him from upstairs. What if he fell out of bed or needed the toilet? Do they expect you to just leave him to get on with it?

Do the HA's use the same points system as the council does? I would question the council's refusal to assess dd1's needs. Would the CAB be able to advise you on that?

I really don't know what to do for the best, we are settled here and the kids are happy here, but in reality I know we will have to move at some point, and I am very stressed by this.
