No, DLA is based on care needs, you don’t need a diagnosis to be awarded. My son has been on middle rate care for the last two years and he’s still on the ASD pathway. I sent in evidence from his nursery, paediatric letter and SLT reports to back up his care needs.

Apply now. You don’t need to wait for a diagnosis. DLA is based on needs, not diagnosis. The Cerebra guide is helpful when completing the form.

Get applying, we only recently applied (ds is 9 almost 10!) because we thought you’d need a diagnosis for DLA…. 6+ years of money difficulties that could have been avoided had we known. X

I have applied they said I've got until 28/08/2020 I applied before but he was only 2 and I had no support from senco at school or anything where as now I have I was just worried with him not being diagnosed that they may refuse x

We have no diagnosis yet and he was first awarded last year for 6 month, renewal beginning of this year he was awarded for 2 year!

Put everything little thing on the form. Write about him on a bad day, don't think to yourself well he doesn't do that everyday etc.

We have no diagnosis and my son was awarded HRC at 3.5 years old. I’ve just sent off his renewal forms now he’s 5 and nothing has changed, well it has, it’s just got harder. Both times applying I’ve added in letters from his teacher which I truly believe helps as they have always written statements which back up what I’m saying he is like at home showing he is also like it at school. He also now has an EHCP in place with a full time 1:1 and is on the waiting list for an autism assessment which could be another year or so.

I need help please my child's DLA award has been reduced from Higher rate care to Lower rate care and low mobility rate. I have sent so much evidence including CAMHS, SCHOOL REPORT, HOUSING ETC. I raised a concern with the DM who should contact me (I'm trying to avoid going through an MR as long waiting times) how can I prove the supersession isn't legal?

Sunshineclouds11 · 14/11/2024 20:32

@Waitingmummy what was the reasons

BrumToTheRescue · 14/11/2024 20:39

@Waitingmummy you should submit a MR. If you don’t and DWP amend their decision, brilliant, but if they don’t you have lost time. Explain why DD needs help or supervision throughout both day and night in excess of what is typically expected for children the same age and reference your evidence at each stage.

Thank you hopefully they see they made an error
