I know this is silly to be so happy about this but I am anyway Smile.

I have 4 autistic dc and one with learning disabilities.

Ds1 now aged 18 finally has a best friend who also has SEN and a few people who he talks to. Ds2 has a group of people he tolerates. Ds3 has a couple of people who tolerate him. Ds5 much prefers adults and enthusiastically greets his classmates parents while ignoring the children.

But ds4 has friends. I've just been sent a lovely photo of him at the year 6 disco with one of those cardboard photo frame things. All my other dc would be on their own looking uncomfortable but dc4 is with his two besties with a massive grin on his face. One of his friends, who also has learning disabilities is always phoning ds4 up and they will chat for ages. It's so lovely. I love my autistic dc but it's just so lovely to have a child who is able to socialise.

Thank you everyone. Went to his leavers service at school where he got a certificate for upholding the school values. In the bit where they all said about their best memories at school, ds4 and his friend both called each other their best friend ever. It was so lovely.
