Off on holiday for first time with DS2 and without back up!

My parents have decided they're too old for beach holidays so we're off to the seaside - first holiday we've had for two years and first without parents to help out. And DS1 and DS2 will be sharing a room...

Wish us luck and pray for sun! No internet access in cottage so will be a holiday from MN too. What will I do if I've got any questions?

Good Luck - We did this last year with 2 boys one ASD and one not - it was fine and we all had a good time.

Good luck! Do you have a portable DVD machine (and favorite dvds)to get a little rest at the cottage?

Oh, hope everybody's hols go well. We are currently on holiday with dd1 (3 and ASD) and dd2 (15months), and it has been soooo much easier than we expected. The flight was great - both dds charmedmost people (we flew to California, so a looong flight, too) and dd1 has settled well into our hotel - we booked into a suites only hotel, so have 2 bedrooms and a small kitchen to maintain GF/CF diet. It's the first time the dds have shared on their own,and it's going really well. In fact, dd1's ASD has hardly been a factor at all. We have had som brilliant days out, she is really enjoying swimming (ex water-phobic) and we couldn't have had a beter holiday.

Then dd1 got chicken pox.

BUT, she has coped really well with that too, and has mostly scabbed over, so we should be able to get our original flight back on Monday (had feared an imposed extended holiday!)

So, hope you all have as good a holiday as us!

Well we're back and it was brilliant! DS2 slept through every night except one and was much calmer after being put to bed than normal - whether this was because he was with DS1 or whether it was because the room was tiny (no space to rush up and down) I don't know. The only slight difficulty was that it said there was a video and DVD player and there was only a DVD with no remote control - which meant that DS2 had to watch the 3 DVDs we'd taken STRAIGHT THROUGH rather than picking the bits he likes! He is now word / sign perfect in the Pets and Animals episode of Something Special
" Oh look! Fish. You sign - fish. Look - fish!" etc etc.

And we met up with Yurt and her gorgeous DS1
