Hi all, New to the group.

Just wondering if there are are mums and dads that have kiddies with Downs.

My 2 year old dd has Downs and Complex heart defects that can't be repaired.

I have 3 other children and another on the way

Hello - welcome, you have your hands full

There are a few mums her whose children have Downs Syndrome, I'm sure they'll be around. My dd has a significant heart defect and a (now resolved) leg length discrepancy

Hi Rilith and welcome to mumsnet.

I have 2 children, DS1 is 5 and has ASD and DS2 is 7 months old and has downs syndrome and bi-lateral talipes.

This site has been a godsend for me with lots of very knowledgeable and friendly people on it.

I hope you find it as useful and enjoyable as I do!

Hello! Welcome to the SN board, hope you find it helpful. My DH works in a nursery class at a mainstream primary and has two children with Downs--he really enjoys teaching them. Our DD has developmental delay but no diagnosis.

Hi Rilith.
I am a salt who works in field of SN.
I also have a 7 year old daughter with comunication difficulties.

You have come to a great place.

Welcome aboard!

There are several parents here who have children with Down's Syndrome.

I have a 4-year-old daughter who has experienced gross and fine motor skill delays first noted at her 8-month check up.

hiya

I am mum to an almost 6yo dd with down syndrome. She was also born with a complete AVSD that was repaired when she was 8 weeks old. I also have two other dds - one is 3 and the other 1yo. I think there are some pics of dd1 on my profile. IF you click on the clipboard thingy - you will see them.

My nephew is 3 with Downs, did have heart probs but now ok but has severe hearing difficulties. My sis seems to be getting lots of support from everyone.

hi rilith, I have a little girl with DS . She had her 7th birthday last week and is in year 2 in mainstream primary. She has hearing loss and wears a bone-anchored hearing aid, her speech is pretty poor but she certainly manages to communicate despite the hurdles.

I am very sorry to hear that your dd's heart defect is inoperable - my dd was born with significant CHD but thankfully had a full repair. I can only imagine how painful it must be if this is not possible . Which hospital are you under? And I presume you're in touch with the Down's Heart Group - are you on their Yahoo group? I used to find that so helpful when we had to deal with all of dd's cardiac issues.

another vote for Downs Heart Group - they were brilliant when we were dealing with dd1's cardiac stuff.
