Special Needs Social Worker

My family is under Malachi at the moment. Mainly as issues at home and managing DS age seven Special needs (Autism and Communication) are effecting his behaviour at home hugely. They are putting in a request for a social worker but they don’t know if we’ll get one. DS has ASC (moderate) moderate Speech and language delay., he is emotionally immature for his age. He is Year 3 working at Reception level I believe but he has poor concentration so could have the ability to work at Year 1 level. Would he qualify?

The criteria LAs set are local policy and differ area to area. Even within LAs there’s not a 100% standardised process. I would push for the children with disabilities team to be involved though and complain if you are refused.
