With my eldest sons care needs i went self employed so i could work from home and spend time with him but when i had my youngest, (extremely premature 24 weeker, lung disease, fully tube fed etc.), i had to stop working. Really i should have done this claim sooner as he is nearly 2 but its such a shame that there is a lack of provision for SEND children and so many of us have to leave work...

Scan date 16th Jan and hoping for a decision soon 🙌

As iv stated above. Please do it xx

Give them a ring, state you NEED the claim to marked as a priority due to financial hardship xx

I didn't know you could do that, honestly I'm drained I only work 2 days now but they are long days and when my son doesn't sleep which is most nights he's awake throughout the night, neither do I but have over 1 and half drive to and from work and out for 13 hours both days for work, honestly how I haven't fell asleep behind the wheel travelling in horrible traffic. Thank you will try and call them and see what they say I sent Monday all the mobility stuff off too so hoping it's been scanned on aswell now 👌

I gave up work due to my eldest. I was working 13 hours a day 4 days a week then when off i was on call for night staff incase off any deaths and medical assistance needed. I was soooooo drained and no way does work come before my family. So def ring them and get onto it xx

I received a general text to say they are dealing with the claim and there's no need to be in touch. I had the same text for my daughters claim and a letter with the decision was sent 12 days later. Is that text usually a sign the claim is with a DM or has anyone else received it and still waited a while for a decision?

When’s your scan date hun? Usually when you get the text it’s not long after from what I’ve been seeing x

Nope, I was thinking the same. It started off slow last week and then suddenly went crazy with awards. Hopefully the same this week! 🙏

I tried to call this morning, the call dropped several times before I managed to get connected and placed in the hold queue, after an hour and 25 min I got disconnected! Now I've just tried again and it appears the phone lines are down! Just says something like sorry we are unable to take calls, no menu options or anything. Anyway scan date 7/2. Sent extra evidence about a month ago which got linked to my application straight away so far so good. Week 12 now, have some extra evidence but not sure how to pass it on, a referral to teacher of the deaf, but no paperwork for that as yet, and another failed hearing test, but they already have evidence of 5 failed hearing tests, again still waiting for the paperwork. He's also now wearing a hearing aid which needs constant monitoring as there is a button on it in such a silly place, it gets knocked all the time and then the hearing aid is off. I'm not sure if I can just call them and they can add notes over the phone or if I should write a letter to them with all the updates. I think if I wait for the paperwork it will be too late

Same scan date as me x

Sleeplessi · 01/05/2024 13:40

@OneBrightBeaker i also have as an date of 18/01. I haven’t had any texts but 2 letters - one confirmed scan date and the last one talked about 15 weeks but I read it 3 times and still can’t figure out whether it meant 15 weeks from scan date (tomorrow!) or 15 weeks from the letter which was in Mar

i worry I filled out the form too soon - DS has an ASD diagnosis, and had been really struggling but since Jan has had an EHCP décision to issue agreed (which is a whole other battle and we’re nowhere near finalising), is now under CAMHS and has also barely been in school - his attendance since Jan is 10% whereas it was around 80% when I filled out the form. So much more evidence now - expecting them to say no and then starting another battle with this. So draining!

Good luck to everyone going through this…

Not personally, but I know of someone who got a call from the DM to ask a few more questions relating to the claim. xx

No, I printed them myself and sent new claim. Didn’t have deadlines for return x

Do you think because the phone lines are down they are racing through the various piles...Wishful thinking 😀

😂 here’s hoping! But knowing them they’ll use it as an excuse to add a couple more days/weeks to the already crazy wait times!

HeathenPlayingHouse · 01/05/2024 15:28

Hello all, I'm a new lurker 😊

I sent off my son's DLA renewal on 16/04, I think. I tried to call today to confirm receipt and check the scan date, but now the lines are down so I'll try again tomorrow.

My son is 4 and has ASD and possibly GDD. Last time I applied, he hadn't received a diagnosis but they awarded MRC for 2 years based on the form and a report from the hospital doctor.

His needs have increased a lot since then, so I am hoping that he might qualify for HRC and possibly mobility.

This time, I sent off the form with input from his teacher (he's in a special needs provision class), paediatrician report, diagnosis letter from the Nurse Practitioner, Educational Psychologist report and a copy of his IDP from school.
Plus extra sheets for about 8 questions because I couldn't fit it all in 😂

I hope it's enough.

Congratulations to everyone who has received their awards, and good luck to everyone still waiting!
