within 2 weeks of applying for it - I posted about filling in the form under another name - moira199, I was fed up of everyone else having cool 'nicks'

Tips for success

I had an autistic like obsession with mentioning his autism in every sentence. Because of autism, DS cannot do X, Because of autism, DS cannot do Y, Because of autism, DS cannot do Z

When asked how many times a day X,Y or Z happens, I put 'constantly'

When asked how many minutes X, Y or Z happens, I put '720 minutes' I was honest about him sleeping at night so this doesn't really add up but it worked.

Make sure the nursery (if you have one) are primed to give the worst case scenario - one of our staff resigned because she couldn't cope etc

Now I know what to spend it on, I went down to the greenhouse yesterday and though 'Hmm, it must be about 90 degrees in here whereas there are snowflakes going by the window!" Someone called DS1 had put the heater on to maximum. Not all the baby plants survived the upsurge in temperature

Well done!

I put "constantly" for a lot of things, too and really emphasised not being able to leave him alone because of his impulsive behaviour and the way he treats his younger brother like a ragdoll. I generally hate being dramarific, even on the toughest days, but I wasn't going to beat about the bush for this one.

We had a more frustrating time with teh IR for getting our tax credits adjusted - they took forever just sitting on it all and still can't manage to set up a direct credit - we've been cashing pigging cheques for nearly 2 years now. Now we've got to do all that again, because I've just applied for and got Carer's allowance and that counts as income!

LeonieD: We might not be affected, then. Have you told the tax credits people about the DLA, though? There is quite a substantial disabled child premium on top of child tax credit - significantly more than the £545 PA if you have a child on the middle rate and higher still if your child is receiving the higher rate. Our Child Tax Credit payments more than tripled.
