DLA - when will I hear?

Hiya

I understand there are super super long wait times for DLA applications at the moment, but should I have received some confirmation that they received my application?

I sent it on 8th March so just over 2 weeks ago. Just worrying as the man in the post office told me they will always say they didn’t receive it! Should I call to check or is it too soon?

And as for wait times for a decision, I heard it can take 5 months, is that correct?

Thanks!

Decisions are currently taking around 17-20 weeks. Some slightly quicker, some longer. Some people receive a letter &/or text after a few weeks, but not all. Did you send it tracked? If not I would call next week to check it has been received.

@Headfirstintothewild Okay thank you. They said I couldn’t send it tracked because there wasn’t a post code? I did get proof of postage but that doesn’t tell me much!

I sent mine as a signed delivery so they get it quicker , I even paid 8 pounds yet I have not heard anything, mine was for a mandatory reconsideration mostly because I didn't state my sons needs properly and he got mrc only . My son has Agenisis of the corpus collosum, bilateral ventriomegaly

I sent mine three weeks ago, signed for delivery. But not heard anything back either. Tried phoning last week but the hour long queue time made me hang up.

Hi all my daughter already receives the care element of dla but she's due to turn 5 and I've received the forms to apply for the mobility part. The forms are exactly the same, does that mean I have to re fill every part out again as well as sending in the evidence just to apply for the mobility element?

Some people receive a form that allows you to tick care needs haven’t changed. If you have this type of form you can tick that. You should said any evidence you have.

@Marie156 vi would personally redo the entire form, I read people have had claims stopped when they've not filled in 🙈 just incase, if you have a copy of your old form you can copy and paste it nothing has changed xx
