babysitting services for asd children

We have been offered a free 8 weekly evening course by our local authority as parents of a newly(ish) diagnosed son with ASD. It's in the evening and I wondered if anyone had used babysitting services who might have sitters specialising in ASD, plus our NT daughter. We don't have family in the area. We are Sussex btw.

Thanks for your replies 2shoes and Christie.

I am north of Brighton 2shoes.

Your suggestion has reminded me that there is a young girl at ds special playgroup who might well like to earn a few extra quid. She already knows him as well so I think i'll approach her in the first instance.

Oh near me then

depending how far you are from brighton there are a couple of schools worth a try. also I could ask dd's sw if he knows anyone.

You're very kind 2shoes. Without giving away my exact location I'm in a small town about 8 miles north of B.

I've managed to get a neighbour to do one of the weeks and will ask another as well, plus I'll try this girl at playgroup. Don't worry about bothering your dd's sw atm but I may come back to you if I get stuck ! The course isn't until end of April so I have some time.

Pity you are not nearer me... I care for children with dx ASD.
If you don't manage to get enough cover by using neighbours and the girl at playgroup, then Find A Sitter shows which childcarers have experience of caring for children with additional needs.
