So: Autumn 2005 - apply (no dx at all) - awarded middle rate care.

Summer 2006 - J turns 5 (+ ADHD dx)- awarded middle rate care and low rate mobility

October 2007 - renewal (now has ASD dx too) - awarded middle care and low mobility again

November 2007 - ask for reconsideration as SW says J qualifies for high care and high mobility

November 2007/ December 2007 - WHOLE award taken off us as 'he has no learning disability'!

December 2007 - I appeal

January 2008 - it's looked at again during appeal process and put back to middle rate care and low rate mobility

February 2008 - I appeal again - back to where we were in November!

March 2008 (today) - I ring to ask how the appeal is progressing and am told that he's been put up to high rate care and kept at low rate mobility - hadn't I received a letter? NO I HADN'T!

So, 9 months later, I will now have to appeal AGAIN to get the high rate mobility - he meets all the criteria, but in this ridiculous lottery farce, he may well get it all taken off him again! AAAAAARGGGGGHHHH!

Where is the consistency?

Good thing is the high rate care will be backdated for six months...but I don't get why they've given in on care and not mobility - bags of evidence for the 'severe behavioural problems' and safety bit - I guess they're holding out on the not mentally impaired bit - thanks to good old NAS for their advice on how ASD rules on that are different.

Tis so so so crap that I could scream!
