ADHD assessment- what was this called?

A friend’s DS(8) has finally had his ADHD assessment appointment (NHS) and part of it involves - as told to me by friend - for DS to sit in a room with the assessor, have some sort of electrode-thingy stuck to his forehead, and then he held a buzzer in his hand and had to press it every time he saw an image (or something like that) on a screen. This lasted for 15 minutes. Friend is vague and doesn’t seem to understand it herself.

I’m just curious as to what this test is and what it is used for - does anyone know? I can’t find anything obvious online. Friend has a follow up appointment soon to discuss the results of the full assessment etc.

Sounds like a QB test, OP.

It should not be used as a substitute for clinical judgement, but it is one source of data for clinicians to weigh alongside other evidence.
