Hi everyone just looking for some advice.
One of my DTs (aged 2) was diagnosed with global developmental delay at 18 months. Excellent referrals to all areas. However physio and speech and language are at a standstill in regards to next steps (he is not making any progress) and have not seen his paediatrician since first diagnosis (was meant to see her at 2 year birthday but is on maternity leave).
I have become a SAHM to care for him more as full time nursery wasn’t working (I used to also work as a nursery nurse myself) but I’m struggling to find activities/ways to help him make any progress and the days are long. Everything I can think of doesn’t work.
He is unable/or unwilling to explore outdoor areas and will just sit in a pram (and fall asleep) hates messy play, is unable to stack towers/do jigsaws, throws books away. He is obsessed with bead mazes (but only lasts so long) watching Cocomelon (repeating same songs again and again) and oddly playing with the calculator app on my iPhone (he can do this for ages). But he has no speech, he isn’t progressing in play and seems to be becoming further apart developmentally from his twin brother than ever before.
His twin brother and my eldest DS (4) are so lively and love to be playing outside and to be out and about, making noise, don’t really like the TV on, messy play etc but either they can’t do these things because my focus is on the one twin or he ends up glued to the TV whilst I do stuff with them.
Does anyone have any suggestions of activities I could do with the one twin to try aid his development before he becomes so far apart from his brother/peers? And does anyone have experience of negotiating this with other siblings around?
TIA xxx
