Restraining 8 year old

Hello
My 8 year old has adhd and autism. He had no awareness of danger at all. When we go out we use a wrist strap, we used to use harness reigns. He hates them and fights them but he will not hold hands, he needs to jump and move and the wrist strap was working. Anyone any ideas for older children? He is very stubborn, likes to feel in control so if I can involve him in the process of selecting something it may help!

Did you stop using reins because DS didn’t like the, or because he outgrew toddler reins? If the latter have you considered reins for older DC?

Would DS use a wheelchair or SN buggy? Even some DC who like to run and jump don’t mind a wheelchair for high risk journeys.

Yes he outgrew the reigns. He is also self conscious of others not using restraints and things, he is very aware of his differences and I know he doesn't like to feel different! I have considered a wheelchair or buggy. That may be the way to go, thank you

If you stopped using reins because DS outgrew the toddler ones and DS would still wear them you can get reins for older DC and adults.
