Hi all,

My dd is still not sleeping. The piriton the doc gave her hasn't worked.

Can't see the doc again until tomorrow.

I feel sooooo tired

She isn't due her hip spica change until the 31st march and then she's having another one until the 28th April. I can't go that long without any sleep!

Hello Gem..
I wonder, has your G.P ever offered melatonin..?
My daughter has it every now and then and it really helps..

I don't think it's prescribed for children in general (correct me if I'm wrong) it's more applicable for children with SN..

It's worth asking..if your child has SN

Hope you get SOME sleep tonight!!

I can also recommend Melatonin, it works wonders for my 5 year old DS1 (ASD), when he needs some help to 'switch off', especially during summer and around clock changes.

My GP wouldnt prescribe it (it is mostly used for adults to avoid jetlag on long haul flights I believe), but his paedatricition prescribed him the liquid form with no hassle and it has been a revelation for him, when at 9pm he is still bouncing off the walls in his room.

Good luck!

Melatonin was worked for my ds although it is only meant to help the child of too sleep it is not intended to keep them asleep....!!

Im currently having terrible trouble with my sons sleep patterns. I think hes suffering with night terrors or something, its horrible and were getting no sleep...

...but we battle on, somehow?

Gem83,could she be in pain? Did she have surgery before going into the hip spica and when did she go into it?
My DD was in a hip spica for months when she was a baby after dislocated hip surgery

Hi all,

I'll ask the GP tomorrow about the melatonin thanks

Mitchell81, she had an open reduction on her left hip and closed reduction on her right hip but, that was in January.

She had recently had her cast changed for the first time on the 28th feb and she has been really irritable since then.

I don't know if it's because shes uncomfortable or if she's in pain. It's really stressful though. You just feel really crappy when you haven't had any sleep.
