Making Friends

Hi All,

I am looking for some advice please.

DS started reception this year in a specialist resource unit within a main stream school. He has never had a friend before, but has made a lovely friend within his class.

I would love to be able to arrange play dates and meet ups during the holidays. He struggles with NT children as he is quite young for his age and doesn’t understand pretend play, so to have another child to play with who has similar interests would be amazing.

My problem is that DS friend gets transport to school, so I have never met his parents, as they are not there for drop off or pick up. I have no way to contact them to see if they would like to meet up. There’s no class WhatsApp, it’s a small group with mixed ages.

Would I look strange if I asked the teacher to pop a note in friends bag with my number, so they could contact me if they were interested?

I can’t think of any other options.

Thank you!

Go for it. Asking the teacher to pass on a note is fine.

I would be delighted to find a note in my DS' bag asking for a playdate! Go for it!
