ADHD medication making no difference!

My 13 year old DD recently started on 18mg of Delmosart and apart from a bit of a decrease in appetite reports no differences at all.
Teachers say the same, absolutely no change.
Is this normal until the dose increases to 27mg next week or is it likely this medication doesn’t work for her?

She’s so upset as was hoping to be more focused in class and be able to absorb the information

We started on 10mcg and upped to 20mcg (methylphenidate slow release) after 7 days. My DD reported no difference at the first dose, but has seen improvements since the dose was upped. She says she has “found her calm” at school. We are just waiting to see if this is ongoing or if needs reviewing again. Good luck. X

Hello OP, just to say feel free to come and join the ongoing ADHD meds chat thread on this board, you should get more replies there.

But definitely, I think it's usual to start on a low dose with methylphenidate and increase until the right dose is found. My son started on 10mg Medikinet which really didn't make much difference. He's now on 30mg and we do see improvements, although it's still nothing dramatic.

Hi can you point me in the right direction for that please?

DD is an adult, but is quite thin, so probably doesn’t weigh more than she did at 18. She said Delmosart did nothing for her until she got 36 mg; and now she’s on 54 mg. She also said, it’s not a cure all - it only works on some parts of ADHD, like concentration.

Thank you for your reply
That’s the only aim - to be able to concentrate in school.
She is a little chubby so perhaps 18mg just isn’t enough to notice any difference
