Very anxious mum here
DD 13 has been diagnosed with ADHD and prescribed Concerta XL 18mg rising to 27mg after week 1.
Worried as we have heart issues in the family on DHs side although her ECG was normal
Anyone been in this position?

Did you tell the prescribing doctor about the family history? My son has been on concerta for a few months and at the moment while his dose is being adjusted, he has monthly bp and hr monitoring. I was advised to get a home monitor so we could do these at home, as his review appointments are online.

There is a history of heart disease in DH's family but the prescribing Doctor seemed happy that DS had previously been assessed by Cardiac Risk in the Young and declared fit.

Its private for us so we had to pay for an ecg but that was all that was recommended?

DS was assessed as an adult under Right to Choose, so don't know if it's different.

He was assessed by Cardiac Risk in the Young pre-pandemic. They are quite well respected and thorough so I suppose that the Doctor thought that was enough?

The local Cricket Club had raised funds for the charity to do assessments in our town after a 18 year old player had died suddenly during a match.
