Hi
This is my first post and feeling very guilty. My 7 Yr old son has ASD. He has always struggled with teeth brushing due to sensitivities. We have tried every toothbrush and toothpaste which we successfully found Jack and Jill none flavour.

Last few day son has had teeth discomfort it's effecting his eating and I have booked a dentists appointment. My son is terrified of hospitals, Dr's he has a lot of trauma from. Covid due to tests ect. He also has a dummy still for sensory input night time and to regulate him..... I know he shouldn't but he doesn't like chewy aids tried everything.

Is there any advice on what to do when I take him to keep him calm and not bring on a meltdown? He has watched Peppa Pig episode with dentist as its one of his favourite shows.

I know I'm going to get told off by the dentist for his dummy but worried incase he needs any procedures what will happen.

I second a referral to the special care community dental team. In some areas you can self refer.
