DLA COL payment not received - anyone else?

My son qualified for DLA earlier this year, but we didn't receive the COL payment. I chased it up and they sent a letter confirming he should have received it, and it would be paid within 2 weeks of the date of the letter. That was 4 weeks ago...

Has this happened to anyone else? Is it worth the time spent ringing up, or would they just put the phone down on me? The letter says not to contact them again, and the payment would happen automatically.

Spent an hour on hold yesterday, and got through to someone who told me the COL payment system and the DLA payment system is different, the teams can't talk to each other, and the only thing he could do was to raise another request on my son's account, but it would mean I should hear from them soon. Apparently the COL teams prefer to call people with updates rather than write letters, so I'll need to answer private number etc.

There's no way to speak directly to the COL team.
