Considering changing secondary school before September

Hi - I'm not sure this is even possible, but my child is in yr6 and has an EHCP. We have the annual review coming up in July. We have various reasons to think the secondary school we chose on the application is now not the best fit. I'm assuming it's far too late to change? Or is it? Is it worth discussing with the Local Authority to see what they say? Any thoughts? Initially we thought we would let DD see how she gets on with the original choice but obviously if we switch later she will have missed all the chances to make friends at the preferred choice of school. Any thoughts on best route through this? The named school currently is the catchment school one.

It is highly unlikely a change of placement will be finalised for September. Even if the LA agree and they stick to the AR timescales without you having to enforce them, it could be up to 12 weeks after the AR by the time you have a finalised EHCP.
