So I am looking to move soon and I was wondering if you have had any troubles of moving your child who has special needs/autism to another school because of moving?

Does DC have an EHCP? If so and you move LAs the new LA will review the EHCP and potentially amend, reassess or even cease to maintain. There is no guarantee they would name your preferred school. They may force you to appeal.

If DC doesn’t have an EHCP, the in year admission is the same as it is for other DC. If the school has a place they can’t refuse DC because of their SEN. With one exception, when the school believe the pupil may display challenging behaviour and they have a particularly high proportion of pupils previously permanently excluded or with challenging behaviour compared to other local schools and they believe admitting another pupil with challenging behaviour would prejudice the provision of efficient education or use of resources, and the application isn’t during the normal year of entry.

I was very fortunate doing this last September. I'd convinced myself for years to keep him where he was for routine but in the end had to be moved in an emergency.

The same difficulties still exist. In fact I'd say they have got harder because of the damage his old school did, but it made all the difference working with a supportive school
