I am pretty certain my dd9 has autism I have known this for roughly 2yrs and can mostly manage at home. However social issues are popping up at school and I am very aware secondary school is looming and I can’t stick my head in the sand any longer. Senco observed dd advised she has subtle traits and is masking very well. At home is totally different scenario. Anyway myself and husband have an hour long meeting with senco she has said we will need our dds nhs number and will be completing a live form online which will take an hr. Can anyone tell me what this will be for? Thankyou I just want to know the next steps and be prepared.

Sounds like it could be a request for an assessment to get the ball rolling for a possible diagnosis.

I agree, it does sound as though she's going to get referred for Assessment, which sounds as though it will be helpful.

Do you know when the meeting is?

My best advice would be to start a list now of all the things she does at home and all of your concerns. Sort of a bullet point reference guide so that you don't forget to include anything.

Our DD is on the Pathway, she's been prescribed Melatonin which has helped massively. She's also been referred for help with ARFID and we are waiting for SLT but have been told that it's being expedited due to her age (she's 15) and because of a lack of emotional language.

Thank you all so much for replying. I had the meeting with the school senco this morning. They have started the referral process tbh I was expecting to have to fight to get her refereed but the senco had noticed traits in class and also her class teacher she is still masking pretty well at school. When we did the forms online she ticked every box bar 2. I’m feeling pretty emotional at the min so glad I have done it to ensure my dd gets the help she needs but also so sad for her. I don’t know why she is such an amazing loving caring dd I’m just feeling so sad and lonely at the min and worried about her future. Sorry for the long post I just had to write it down.
