DD's Annual Review

Had DD's annual review today and it went brilliantly. Grin The man from the LEA 'observed' for half an hour and DD really put on the charm and proved how much progress she has made (he did look slightly bemused when an ultra-sociable DD kept grabbing his long hair like a swing-rope!). They have confirmed another year's full funding for ABA until December 2005, a confirmed place at the fab autistic unit starting fulltime January 2006 (with a few afternoons integration next autumn term). I am just so pleased. I feel incredibly lucky that we have such a helpful LEA and just wish that all autistic children could get the input they need pre-school without it being such a battle Sad.

Thanks for all the lovely messages! Yes, certainly means our Christmas will be a lot more relaxed. Pixel, I had no idea they would confirm a place at the school at the review- was totally amazed and felt like kissing the man from the LEA. On another note, in-laws still won't accept the situation. When DH phoned with the 'good' news, his dad was depressed about it all and still thinks DD will 'come out of it'. It's very, very hard.

My DH seemed unphased at first (or at least not as emotionally raw about it as I was). But he's quite upset about it at the moment. I think it's because he feels distant from DD and they used to be so close. Anyway, I don't think there is enough support for men. We're kind of 'doing' it all the time, living it, and we naturally get support at meetings etc etc.
