6 year old biting himself.. what might help

Hi
Ds has started buying himself when he's upset with himself
E.g. 2 year old hits him with a toy, DS6 reacts and hits then is instantly remorseful and bites himself on each arm.

Has anyone had this.. and thoughts on what might help. I'm wondering about a chewy bracket or something.

He chews a lot, chewing his top and cuff a lot at the moment. He's also got teeth falling out/ growing so I'm wondering of this is linked somehow.

Any help would be really great x

You could look at other sensory toys/equipment as well as a chewy.

Is DS receiving any support with emotional regulation e.g. is his school offering anything like Zones of Regulation, has DS ever had SALT and OT assessments?

@Nelly44 hi there.
Was just wondering if this has improved? Thanks 😊

Hi, yes it did improve! He's 8 now and probably bitten himself once in the last 9 months.

Is your little one going through a similar thing?

@Nelly44 , hi there , thanks for replying.

My dd does it when she is upset or during a meltdown, so it's kind of different. But suppose essentially it's upset / frustration. Really glad to hear it's not happened in a long time for your son.
