Some of you may know that we had to have dd2 test for cardiac conditions - she has a 1 in 50 chance of having a mitral valve prolapse and a biscuspid aorta ( inherited conditions).

So after an already stressful tiring week ( had a new parent visit to do with a family who had recently had a little girl with ds) we trundle off to the cardiologist.

thankfully dd2 was to see dd1's cardiologist. Trust him and have a lot of respect for him.

After the nurse putting a little worry in my head saying the heartbeat looked a little irregular and a very extensive echo - we got the good news. All Clear.

Now I am so relieved - simply because it meant one less thing to worry about and one less thing to add to my list of things to deal with.

You know me - if she had the condition - so be it but I am pleased she does not.

Now just need to wait until dd3 is old enough to be seen. Dd1's cardiologist has offered to see her too.

oh and dd2 was a star - she rarely sees the doc - she is just so healthy so having lots of vitals taken as well as an ecg and an echo is a little daunting for a 3yo.

She was so relaxed and just did what she was asked. She was funny though - she is an incredibly curious child - so I was bombarded with lots of questions especially whilst the doc was doing the echo - she wanted to know everything.

Eidsvold, I'm really relieved for you that your dd's heart is OK.

Your dd did very well, my dd screamed the place down, thrashed about like someone was trying to hurt her and generally didn't co-operate when she had an echo at that age, and she'd had several before! I'll keep my fingers crossed for when your dd3 has her tests.

Iwearflairs, I hope that your ds is OK when he has his echo etc. too. We've probably met on here before, as my dd's 4 and has got marfan syndrome. Her aortic root (oh heck, nearly typed arctic roll thanks to that other thread! ) was found to be enlarged when she was 18 months old, so they started her on beta blockers. It's been fairly stable since, but still gives her symptoms.

Yay! that's such good news eidsvold I posted on the other thread looking for an update.

dd fell asleep during her echo this week.
