Hi

My daughter is still currently in nappies at 4.5.
Possible autism, awaiting second assessment. Have been told if she is it's mild.
Speech delayed although can communicate well and her talking has improved a lot lately.

She's starting school in Sep and I'm having a panic about her still being in nappies.
She knows what the toilet is for, she will often say I need a wee and run to the toilet but will sit on it clothed. We do praise her for this so she knows it's a good thing.
We've managed to get her to sit on it without a nappy on a couple of times but nothing happens. We praised for that also.

We've tried her dolls and teddies sitting on it etc. not sure if she would understand the books.

Has anyone got any advise?
Do I need to keep her naked on bottom half and ask every 20 mins?
Abit at a loss on what to do tbh.

X

Have you tried being in touch with ERIC? They're a charity all about supporting children and families with toilet issues. I had issues with my son's toilet stuff (he would wee in a toilet but only poo in a nappy) and Eric gave me some fab advice on their helpline, and have great resources on their website too. I hope this is of some use to you x
