4 year old with suspected DLD - Anyone with experience?

My son has been seeing a SALT for 4 months and she recently raised that she thinks he may have DLD, but has recommended we see someone who specialises to be sure.
My son is 4 years old and certainly has a delay but I don't know anyone whose child has the same speech issues as my son, so looking for others with experience and advise on how I can support him.

I think he's understanding is there, though it can be patchy but when he tries to tell us about his day, his words are muddled up and a lot of the time he makes no sense, for example "I not go watch spiderman, tomorrow" what he's trying to say is that he's not going to watch spiderman today. But, we notice this more when he's tired. If he's had a good night sleep his use of language is far clearer and he's able to retell a story. Its very basic but it's understandable.

We have managed to find SALT who will reassess him, but any mums out there who have similar experiences where their little one had that light bulb moment and it all clicked into place, or mums with little ones with DLD?
Thank you all xxxx

Hi, I realize your post is an old one. My son sounds very similar to yours. I'm just wondering did you get any clarification from a specialist? So infuriating googling and going around in circles.

Hi Twinlifey, he has been assessed by the NHS speech and language specialist and a therapist who specialising in DLD. Both have said it’s too early to be sure but they don’t believe it is but more a delay in his language rather than a disorder. He has certainly improved but I would say he’s still very behind.
He started school last week so I’m hoping with a little more support things will
improve.
Have you had your son assessed? X

That sounds like good news- they must agree that he is making progress. I am awaiting a date for assessment. Sometimes I'm rational and calm about it and other times I become very worried about how his language will develop. I hope school goes well x

i feel exactly the same, hence me responding in the early hours. I’m just hoping there is this moment where it just clicks in his brain.
I have also been researching signs of dyslexia and wondering if we’re seeing the early signs. Please let me know how your little one gets on. Xx
