What a day we have had....LEA have been very quiet just lately...horrid letter arrived from them today...long phone call session this morning....big shouts with the Paed about J's lack of diagnosis and lack of input from SALT....just had enough.... so I decided a walk was needed to blow away some of the anger (and frustration that I will be now having to spend the next couple of days writing more letters and making even more phone calls!!!!)

Asked J if he wanted to come...on went the coat because there was sea mist in the air...got to the bottom of ur lane and J stopped dead in his steps and said "Ella Bella"...asked him what he meant ...spent 20 mins trying to get him up off the floor because he wanted "Ella Bella"....could not work out what it was. Is Ella Bella a character off TV?...No...Is Ella Bella a friend of yours?....No....Is Ella Bella the name of a animal you want to see....No....By this time I was getting even wetter and then decided that I should go back to the house and get my umbrella.....J was happier then cus I had got THE ELLA BELLA!!!!!!

and this is a child who does not need SALT input more than once every 12 months apparently....well we shall see.......

Ah I think that is sweet what ds said it reminds me of when dd calls differences "difficults". However am {angry] Angry Angry on your behalf. There is such a shortage of SALT, but for children like ours it is essential. Why should we have to pay £75 an hour for something that we are entitled to. Don't get me started on occupational therapists........
Hope the sea air helped a bit. Am very Envy as I could do with having the sea near me. Always find a trip to the beach so theraputic and really does clear your mind of worries and stress. Send me some air this was please Grin

Ah well I wrote about this on the other thread. You need a child who can't pronounce their s's and f's then you get regular input. Grrr grrr double grrr. I should start to tally how much ds2 gets compared to ds1. (Although going to SLD school it will hopefully improve- they have 2 therapists and one therapy assistant attached).

Mind you when I contacted all concerned about ds1's lack of SALT (for a year- and he had been given the number one priority on his therapist's list- ie he had been identified as the child in mainstream school most at need in the city of SALT- still nothing for a year) the attitude was :oh well there aren't enough therpaists are there- it's a nationwide problem". They didn't seem to understand that as parents we don't give a damn whether there are enough therapists or not- not our problem- they need to sort it out.

uh oh I'm ranting. Glad you worked out what the ella bella was. We're having problems with a word at the moment "eebum" or something- absolutely no idea what it means and he keeps getting very cross when he says it and we don't get it.

Rogue :o

Had to laugh! :)

One of ds's most obscure statements (I've psoted this before) was "I want some bread soup", over and over. Finally realised he wanted tomato soup which he sometimes called red soup. He did a lot of exchanging of words for awhile and using words that sounded alike but had no relation in meaning....

... and we've still not had SALT yet. Should be around March, nearly 2 years after he was first referred.

Eulalia - you are joking, 2 years Shock

That is a joke Angry

How are you by the way??? Haven't seen you around the board for a while Smile

Yes 17 months for the initial assessment and another 5 before he gets the therapy. Fortunately he seems to have improved a lot by himself but is still well behind.

Feeling fine thanks. Been on the ante-natal boards recently! :) scared though, having a 3rd ...
